			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Most of the Leg Lengthening procedures used today are variations on the Ilizarov method, devised by Russian physician Gavril Abramovich Ilizarov in 1951. Several doctors who perform the surgery in the United States studied with Dr. Ilizarov in Russia in the 1980&#8242;s.</p>
<p>There are four phases: Preparation, Surgery, Lengthening and Strengthening.</p>

<ol>
<li><strong>Preparation</strong><br />
The patient has his or her initial consultations with the physician during this phase. The physician should explain all aspects of the operation and recovery. X-Rays are taken of the legs so that a custom Ilizarov external fixator device can be built specially for the patient. Some centers may also perform a psychological evaluation to ensure that the patient will be able to endure the entire procedure, with the necessary positive attitude.</li>
<li><strong>Surgery</strong><br />
In the most common procedure, the tibia and fibula bones of both lower legs are broken and an external fixator device is attached to each half of each severed bone. The device is attached to the bones using pins or wires that go through small holes drilled through the patient&#8217;s skin.</li>
<li><strong>Lengthening</strong><br />
Also called Distraction, this phase begins about a week after surgery and continues over the next two to three months, depenmding on how much lengthening is desired. The fixator device is lengthened, increasing the distance between both halves of each bone. New bone growth occurs in the space in between. The lengthening is applied slowly, about 1mm a day. Typically a screw is turned four times a day to achieve the 1mm per day separation. External fixator devices may also be motorized to achieve continuous lengthening throughout the process. Patients should be scheduled for one to two hours of therapy each day during lengthening. By the end of this phase, the lower legs have been increased two to three inches.The patient is generally confined to a wheelchair during the Lengthening phase and must not bear any weight on the growing bone.</li>
<li><strong>Strengthening</strong><br />
This phase may also be called the Consolidation phase. For the following three to six months, the patient continues to use a wheelchair until the newly grown bone is strong enough to bear the patient&#8217;s weight. The external fixator device continues to be used to keep the two bones properly aligned, but is no longer lengthened. During bone Strengthening, physical therapy can be reduced to three times a week. At the end of the Strengthening phase, a simple operation is performed to remove the external fixator device, and the patients can usually walk on their own, no longer needing a wheelchair. However, they may require a cast for an additional month for protection of the legs.</li>
</ol>
<p><strong>Physical Therapy and Attitude</strong><br />
Two critical success factors for the procedure are extensive physical and occupational therapy and a positive attitude. Patients should be scheduled for one to two hours of therapy each day during the lengthening phase. This can be reduced to three times a week during the strengthening phase. <strong>Important: Some facilities have no formal program for physical therapy.</strong> The importance of physical therapy to the healing process can not be stressed strongly enough. Though very painful (PT is sometimes described as Pain and Torture), omitting it could lengthen recovery by two or three times the durations listed on this page. What should be a half year recovery can easily be extended to a one or two year recovery, without proper physical therapy.</p>
<p>A positive attitude is also important. The patient doesn&#8217;t just wait to be healed after the operation. He or she must actively work for it. The patient must also be prepared to be immobilized for half a year or more. In our busy day to day lives, it is difficult for most of us to appreciate what it means to be confined and have to depend on other people for basic daily activities.</p>
<p><strong>Pain Management</strong><br />
The entire Leg Lengthening procedure is very painful so proper pain management is key. Chronic pain can significantly impair recovery. There are limitations to the types of pain management medications that can be used. Anti-inflammatory drugs have been shown to slow bone growth and will only be prescribed in emergencies. Narcotic drugs may cause the patient to become addicted and the doctor will probably want to keep away from them as well. Significant pain can also prevent the patient from doing physical therapy during the Lengthening and Strengthening phases. Getting enough sleep is also important for recovery and may be a problem when the pain is very bad. Sleeping pills can be taken for a short amount of time after surgery but eventually they may stop working.</p>
<p><strong>Risks and Complications</strong><br />
As with any operation, there are risks of complications. There is a 25% risk of complications following cosmetic leg lengthening, which is relatively high. The greatest risk is infection at the sites where the pins enter the skin. Special care must be taken to ensure that these sites are kept clean. Anti-bacterial ointments must be applied on a regular schedule. Other risks include:</p>
<ul>
<li>Bone Infection (osteomyelitis) may result in bone destruction or stiffening of joints if the infection spreads. Acute osteomyelitis is caused by bacteria that enters the body through a wound. The onset may be sudden, with chills, high fever, and severe pain. Intravenous antibiotic treatment will usually clear up the infection.</li>
<li>Injury to blood vessels can impair circulation and prevent proper bone growth.</li>
<li>Poor bone healing. This includes delayed healing or failure of the new bone to form a union with the old bone. There is a one in 12 chance of the new bone breaking within weeks of completion of the Strengthening phase.</li>
<li>Angulations can cause the leg to be angled inwards or outwards.</li>
<li>Nerve injury could cause the patient to loose feelings in the lower leg or in extreme cases the loss of use of the leg.</li>
<li>Unequal limb lengths. If one leg fails to heal properly, the doctor may need to reverse the direction of the external fixator device to strengthen it, causing a slight differential between the two legs.</li>
<li>Final height may be less than expected. While most people expect to achieve a full three inches in height after recovery, it is not uncommon for the final height to be a half inch or more shorter than that.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Additional Lengthening</strong><br />
To achieve a greater height, some patients opt for a second operation. Once the lower legs are strong enough, the femur bones of the thighs are broken and lengthened using a similar procedure. However, an additional six inches in the legs will make a person appear significantly disproportional. Add to that the additional expenses and recovery time of almost a year and it becomes obvious why the second operation is rarely performed.</p>
<p>At no time should you ever consider having both lower and upper legs lengthened at the same time. While some international facilities perform this variation, recovery is very difficult and physical therapy nearly impossible because of the pain. We spoke to one person who opted for this. A year after the operation he was still bedridden.</p>
<p>There have been many developments in recent years that improve upon the Ilizarov External Fixator device. Most of these developments involve internal devices that either provide more support during lengthening and strengthening, or eliminate completely the need for the cumbersome Ilizarov device. The alternatives are listed below in alphabetical order.</p>
<ul>
<li> <strong>Albizzia</strong><br />
<img src="http://www.shortsupport.org/gif/leg/France.jpg" alt="" height="120" align="right" /> Albizzia is also call GEN for Gradual Elongation over intramedullary Nail and is a  variation of Internal Lengthening Over Nails.  It was developed in France by Dr Jean-Marc Guichet at the <a href="http://www.allongement-os-grandir.com/index-eng.php">University Center (CHU) of Dijon</a> in 1986. The device is sping loaded. The rotation of the patient&#8217;s lower extremity creates the distraction with an audible &#8220;click.&#8221; It appears to be similar to, or perhaps a precursor of the ISKD. Dr Guichet is continuing his research with the development of a new 3D-Reconstruction nail (3D-Albizzia) allowing for lengthening and axial corrections at the same time.</li>
<li> <strong>Bliskunov&#8217;s method</strong><br />
Bliskunov&#8217;s method was pioneered in the ex-USSR by Professor Alexander Bliskunov, now deceased. It is another example of an internal lengthening device and is now practiced in the <a href="http://www.lengthening.ukrpack.net/faq.htm">Ukraine</a>.</p>

<li> <strong>Fitbone®</strong><br />
The Fitbone® device is being used by Prof. Augustin Betz in Germany and appears to be the only device that uses a powered system to lengthen the legs. The bones of the leg (Tibia and/or Femur) are cut and the intramedullary telescoping nail is implanted in the bone marrow of each bone. Each end of the telescope nail is attached to each end of the cut bone. The nail is connected to an induction receiver that is placed just under the skin. An external control unit powers the telescope nail though the induction plate. <li> <a name="iskd"><strong>Intramedullary Skeletal Kinetic Distractor (ISKD)</strong><br />
<img src="http://www.shortsupport.org/gif/leg/Orthofix.jpg" alt="" height="120" align="right" /> The </a><a href="http://www.iskd.com/">Intramedullary Skeletal Kinetic Distractor</a> (ISKD) device uses a kinetic clutch mechanism to lengthen the leg. One segment of a rod is screwed onto another and the whole rod is inserted into the patient&#8217;s bone. When the patient rotates his or her leg, the lower segment rotates over the upper one, like screwing a bolt out of a nut, and the rod lengthens, expanding the leg. The clutch ensures that the rod can rotate only in one direction. A monitor is included to track how much the leg has separated at any point in time.The ISKD was invented by Dr. J. Dean Cole, an orthopedic surgeon and President of Orthodyne Inc. Dr. Cole is Medical Director of the Florida Hospital, Orthopaedic Institute, Fracture Care Center. This is one of the few facilities in the U.S. that performs Cosmetic Leg Lengthening. Orthofix manufactures this device. Drs. Paley and Herzenberg at the LifeBridge International Center for Limb Lengthening (ICLL) also use ISKD for Cosmetic Leg Lengthening.</li>
<li> <strong>Lengthening Over Nails (LON)</strong><br />
<img src="http://www.shortsupport.org/gif/leg/Usa.gif" alt="" width="120" align="right" />The use of Lengthening Over Nails was pioneered in 1990, by Drs. Paley and Herzenberg while they practiced at the Maryland Center for Limb Lengthening &amp; Reconstruction (MCLLR). They are now at the <a href="http://www.lifebridgehealth.org/sinaibody.cfm?id=1380">LifeBridge International Center for Limb Lengthening</a> (ICLL). During the initial surgery, a metal rod is inserted into the central cavity (intramedullary) of the lower legs (the tibia bone), and then the external fixator device is attached to the bone. As the limb is lengthened, one end of the bone slides over the rod and new bone is grown around it. When the bone is fully lengthened, the external device is removed and the rod is surgically attached to each bone segment. During bone strengthening, the rod provides support instead of the more uncomfortable and unwieldy External Fixator Device. At the end of the Strengthening phase, a second operation is performed to remove the metal rod. Lengthening Over Nails decreases the duration of the Strengthening phase by two to three months.</li>
<li> <strong>Micro-wound</strong><br />
Dr. Helong Bai at the <a href="http://www.goodstature.com/">The 8th Hospital</a> in Chongqing, China developed a micro-wound operation for leg lengthening. This procedure uses a fixative clip instead of an Ilizarov fixator. The fixator clip covers just one side of the leg and appears to be more comfortable than the Ilizarov fixator which completely surrounds the leg.</p>

<p>The Golden rule holds : Stretching + Exercise + Nutrition + Sleep = Growth.</p>
<p>Nutrition is pretty self explanatory, if you eat normally, a typical diet which consist of meat, vegetables, rice and fruits would do the job. Drink 1.5-2.5 litres of water a day according to your needs. Get supplements if needed. Oh, and drink milk too. <img style="vertical-align: middle;" title="Big Grin" src="http://www.growtallforum.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0" alt="Big Grin" /></p>
<p>As for the stretching and exercise part, its pretty simple.  Follow their directions and you would have exercised your spine, throw in another leg lengthening exercise for the day ( E.G. Sprinting, Cycling, Swimming etc. ) and you would be fine.</p>
<p>So &#8230; The simplest and effective routine would look something like that.</p>
<p>30 mins of stretching EVERYDAY.<br />
100 jumps on Monday, 125 jumps on Tuesday, 150 jumps on Wednesday, 175 jumps on Thursday, 200 jumps on Friday, 225 jumps on Saturday, 50 jumps on Sunday and back to 100 jumps on Monday, repeat.</p>
<p>OR</p>
<p>30 mins of stretching EVERYDAY.<br />
Cycle for an hour, max intensity when possible 6 out of 7 days.</p>
<p>Something like that, as you can see, the stretches work your spine while the jumps and stuff like that work your legs, add that with 7 hours of sleep and a good nutrition, you could be looking at a couple of inches.</p>

Actually, the first time that I ever heard about growing up higher in this way, it seemed pretty outrageous to me. <p>I was sick attention to people. And I knew I&#8217;d be one of the most hot girls around only I was still taller. But I was not exactly have the genes tall (5&#8217;2 my parents are 5&#8217;8) and at the age of eleven my doctor told me my bones are almost burn. Yep, at age 11. From when I was 12 to 15, when I was, I had not won a single inch. I thought</p>

<p>I printed nutrition, posture and exercise information from that site and began to stretch every night for about 30 minutes. Also biked for 4 days a week. But the project soon got tiring and boring. So sometimes during the night I&#8217;d get lazy and do not stretch. After one year</p>

But then came the summer and all the children came out hot again thoughts about how beautiful I would be if I was taller began to haunt me. Until the summer of 2000, I created a small &#8220;draft&#8221;. To what happened to this:</p>
<p>Everyday things:</p>
<p>1.) Drink 3 cups milk</p>
<p>2.) Eat lots of protein</p>
<p>3.) Receive 8 hours of sleep</p>
<p>4.) Stretch / yoga for 30 minutes</p>
<p>5.) Hang for 10 minutes</p>
<p>6.) Kick with ankle weights (500)</p>
<p>7.) 100 leaps (leap as high as you can)</p>
<p>8.) 1000 for jumping rope jump</p>
<p>4 times a week:</p>
<p>1.) Swimming: 1 hour</p>
<p>2.) Biking: 20 min</p>
<p>3.) Basketball 30 minutes</p>
<p>I was so excited to start my project. But wow was so much work, especially with school resumed. The first week I felt terrible cuz I did anything about the project. The No. 1 month was very cool. Laziness, but then came back and I slacked off here and there. Nevertheless, I thought I had done a fairly good progress. After 3 MONTHES I measured again &#8211; OH MY GOSH I had not grown at all!</p>
<p>Nor will increase at all until the end of the year. But on New Year&#8217;s resolution for 2001 I said I have to stay with IT daily. I still continue the same program, and I told myself I just have to keep at it. Because even if not increase, I will know that I gave all I have. That is why he worked in increasingly higher daily &#8211; relentlessly.</p>
<p>Even if it was snowing outside, even if it were to rain, even if I had tons underway, will be kept my schedule. After 1 month had not increased at all. But that did not stop me. After 2 months I had not grown. That was getting a little impatient after 2 months (60 freakin days) of hard work hard, but we kept at it. After 3 months, however, 3 months DAILY HARD hard work, measured myself I thought I noticed that grew to 1 cm. My parents thought that counts is wrong, but at the time believed that I absolutely. <p>It was strange, however. For the first 6 months, even when I worked my ASS OFF, I only gained my inch. But most will be held as soon as I grew up! The second 6 months gained 3 inches. It was a miracle! By the end of 2001 I went from 5&#8217;2 to 5&#8217;6. And this year I just won another inch. Yes my dream is the height 5&#8217;8, but I am very pleased with 5&#8217;7!</p>
<p>My parents were blown away. My friends do not even recognize me. I felt so good &#8211; my confidence just skyrocketed. And now I can not wait until summer to go in my bikini on the beach with my 5&#8217;7, 125 lb frame.</p>
<p>Yes, it was simply the greatest achievement I have had. But it was not easy. Remember, do not grow an inch from 12 to 16, and I do not grow an inch even a year after I began to grow taller program. But keeping it up every day did the trick. I spent some money on some amino acids mess, but nothing else. And amino acids did not do **** in the process. My point is, you do not have to spend money to buy the &#8220;secret magazines&#8221; or &#8220;magic slippers.&#8221; The information on this site is the only thing used &#8230; as well as my determination.</p>

&#8211; 3 + hours a day of tennis<br />
&#8211; 30 cents / day straight conditioning<br />
&#8211; 1000 jump ropes</p>

1) I was 16 in 2001, when it grew.</p>
<p>2) I did about 1 / 2 yoga exercises and 1 / 2 other lanes. I used the newspaper with 100 exercises to grow taller, but I did not follow their routine. I went across the newspaper and took out about 15 exercises that I was able to stretch me a little more and I did the same exercises every day. (Just try them all and I think you should have an idea about which one actually feels as if it stretches your spine.<br />
3) I hang for 5 to 10 minutes every day &#8211; 30 second intervals.</p>
<p>4) my legs grew about 2.5 inches.</p>
<p>Diva reply on the opening: I did 500 kicks in each leg. I did it with leaps because I am jumping as high as 100 can be simply the most miserable part of my day. <p>The other post: Hey! I was almost 15 me, when I started. It took me about 2 years to grow 6 inches (5&#8217;8), although I shrunk an inch. Even though I was young, my doctor told me my bones were almost burned when I was 11. That is why were many chances. Remember that this requires a lot of work and determination. I kept up this routine. For the first 6 months I had not grown an inch. I told myself to keep it for 1 whole year. If nothing happens I want to forget everything. After that my work began to bear fruit.</p>

<p>Monitor</p>

* Neither user should monitor or a window<br />
* Monitor should  be at right angles to the window or between rows of fluorescent lamps, rather  than directly under them<br />
* User&#8217;s eyes should be in line with the top  of the monitor or a point 2-3 cm below the top of the screen</p>
<p>Holder</p>
<p>If your work requires frequent reference to a document, you should have  a document or copyholder. Place the holder of the monitor at the same height and  distance from your eyes as the monitor.</p>
<p>Hand and wrist Basics</p>
<p>* Keep your hands and wrists straight and relaxed<br />
*  Avoid bending your wrists or put pressure on them<br />
* The work in a  &#8220;neutral&#8221; position (about half-way through the range of movement for the common)<br />
* Use as easy as pressing a button possible<br />
* When you move  the mouse, with your whole arm not only the wrist or elbow</p>
<p>Keyboard</p>
<p>* You should be able to work comfortably with your elbows to your  sides<br />
* Lower arms should be extended to about a ninety-degree angle  to the upper arms<br />
* With a wrist rest can be problematic &#8211; avoid  pressure on the underside of the wrist while typing<br />

<p>Chair</p>
<p>An  adjustable chair is necessary for any joint work to users of different sizes.  After an ergonomic chair is important if the user is spending the majority of  its working day with a computer. So what is an ergonomic chair?</p>
<p>*  It should have five legs for stability<br />
* Height should be adjustable  (in the range of 15-21 inch for most users)<br />
* The seat pan should have  a depth of 17-20 inches (deeper for people bigger flat for shorter people). The  user should be able to fully back into the chair with lumbar spine (lower back)  region back to contact with the backrest and the rest on foot flat on the  ground. The leading edge of the seat should be rounded off with a slight  downward slope to prevent loss of circulation in the thighs.<br />
* The  backrest should the lumbar region and should be adjustable. Ideally, the user  should the natural &#8220;S&#8221; curve of the spine. Conventional wisdom dictates that the  ideal body position is an upright posture with the hips to a ninety-degree angle  to the legs.<br />
* Armrests are optional. They should be adjustable. If  the arm rests on your chair will not allow you close enough to your desk, you  should consider, among them. You should not rest your arms on the armrests while  typing.</p>
<p>Working Area</p>
<p>Try your work area as free from clutter as  possible. Keep items you use often close at hand. The work area should be stable  with adequate room for an appropriate regulatory regime. It should be at least  as large as the standard reception &#8211; 30 by 60 inches. Correct table height  depends on many factors. 26 to 28-inch is recommended for computer workstations,  but if the surface will also be used for writing on paper is the recommendation  from 28 to 30 centimeters above the floor.</p>
<p>Leg Room</p>
<p>Knee room  should allow the user to change the position of its legs frequently to minimize  fatigue. The knee-room should be at least 30 cm wide and 19 cm depth of 27 cm  high, in accordance with the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities  Act. For shared workstations leg clearance should be greater than the amount of  thigh and knee of the greatest person who is the station for those with a foot  restraint, clearance needs to be calculated with the legs in place on the  footrest.</p>
<p>Footrests</p>
<p>Footrests can be used in two different  circumstances: when the user&#8217;s feet do not rest flat on the ground after a  workstation is properly adjusted, or if the seat compresses the back of the legs  to limit traffic. In the latter case, the footrest can be used to help repeal  the back of the thigh slightly from the seat to allow more blood flow.</p>
<p>Exercise / Breaks</p>
<p>* Eye Breaks &#8211; looking at a computer  screen for long periods of time causes some changes in his eyes, like the work,  what you have to blink less often, and is more of the eye surface to air caused  drought. Every 15-20 minutes, you should look away from the screen for a while,  preferably on an object 20 or more meters away. This allows your eyes to relax  and get back to a more natural plane. A micro-fracture is not necessarily  a break from work, but it&#8217;s a break from using a specific set of muscles, makes  the most of the work.<br />
* Breaks &#8211; all 30-60 minutes you should receive  a short break. During this break up, move and do something else. Get a drink of  water, soda, tea, coffee, or whatever. This allows you to rest and exercise  different muscles and you feel less tired.</p>
<p>Here are a few exercises you  can try to alleviate stress and promote relaxation.</p>
<p>Relax your hands and  wrists try the following:</p>
<p>* Make a tight fist, hold for a second,  then stretch your fingers wide and hold for five seconds. Repeat.<br />
*  With the outstretched arms in front of you, raise and lower your hands by  bending it at the wrist (as if you interact, &#8220;goodbye&#8221;, but slower). Then rotate  your hands ten times in the air with open palms to the outside (as if you delete  something from a table).</p>
<p>For the back, arms and shoulders:</p>
<p>* While sitting on the desk or work, stretch your shoulders, arms and ribcage by  overhead as far as possible and for a few seconds. Holding your arms over your  head, interlocking the fingers of both hands and turn upper body slightly to the  left and right.<br />
* Even in the seats, you can relieve tension in your  neck and shoulders by turning your head slowly from side to side. Other neck  stretches are tilting your head on your shoulders and lowering your chin on the  chest.</p>

<p>CALCIUM</p>

<p>What it does:<br />
• Aid for  strengthening soft bones and teeth.<br />
• helps maintain regular heartbeat.</p>
<p>Best sources: milk and dairy products, sardines, soybeans,. Dried beans,  vegetables.</p>
<p>Supplement (600 to 1500 mg per day)</p>
<p>CHROMIUM</p>
<p>What it does:<br />
• Aids in growth process.<br />
• It helps prevent and  reduce high blood pressure.</p>
<p>Best sources: meat, yeast, clams, chicken,  seafood.</p>
<p>Supplement (90 mcg. Daily is average for adults)</p>
<p>CHLORINE</p>
<p>What it does:<br />
• helps to keep your body limber.<br />
• Aids digestion system cleaning.</p>
<p>Best sources: Table salt, kelp,  and olives.</p>
<p>Supplement has not been determined. However, an average  daily intake of salt should be more than enough.</p>
<p>FLUORIDE</p>
<p>What it does:<br />
0 strengthens bones.<br />
Reduces 0 caries.</p>
<p>Best sources: Fluoridated drinking water, food of the sea and jelly.</p>
<p>Supplement has yet to be determined, but most people have a sufficient  quantity of fluoride in drinking water.</p>
<p>(Note) Available by prescription  in areas without fluoride in drinking water. Additional fluoride should not be  taken unless recommended by a doctor.</p>
<p>IODIDE</p>
<p>What it does:<br />
• promotes growth.<br />
• Provides energy.<br />
• Burns excess fat.</p>
<p>Best sources: Kelp, salt, all seafood, onions, and vegetables grown  iniodine rich soil.<br />
Supplement (P. DS, is 80 to 150 mcg. At day for adults)</p>
<p>(Note) Iodine aid for the smooth functioning of the thyroid gland which  promotes and regulates growth. Check your screens to see if it IODATE along with  your vitamins or minerals better prepared. Too much iodine can cause a harmful  effect. For more iodine supplements has not discussed, a medical advice is  recommended.</p>
<p>IRON</p>
<p>What it does:<br />
• AIDS growth.<br />
•  Prevents fatigue.<br />
• It helps to form hemoglobin in the blood etc.<br />
• Aid  for good skin tone.</p>
<p>Best sources: Liver, beef kidney, egg yolk,  oysters, cereals, raw clams, and<br />
red meat.</p>
<p>Supplement (RDA is 10 to  18 mg.)</p>
<p>(Note) Check your iron supplement to see if it contains &#8220;Ferrous  Sulfate&#8221; an inorganic iron that can destroy the vitamin E in your system. Try to  avoid this preparation. For women, whose bodies use much more than men of iron,  a supplement is more likely.</p>
<p>MAGNESIUM</p>
<p>What it does:<br />
•  AIDS the cardiovascular system.<br />
• AIDS nerve and muscle functions.<br />
•  Needed for calcium and vitamin C metabolism.</p>
<p>Best sources: Figs, apples,  grapefruit, lemons, seeds, nuts, corn yellow and dark green vegetables.</p>
<p>Supplement (300 to 400 mg. Daily)</p>
<p>(Note) If you live in the area  with hard drinking water, or consume large quantities of dried fruit, seeds and  vegetables, you&#8217;re probably obtain sufficient quantities of magnesium.</p>
<p>PHOSPHORUS</p>
<p>What it does:<br />
• AIDS growth.<br />
• Provides  energy.</p>
<p>Best sources: fish, poultry, eggs, meat, nuts, seeds and whole  grains.<br />
Supplement (RDA is 800 to 1200 mg per day for adults)</p>
<p>(Note) Most diets already include adequate amount of phosphorus or  &#8220;phosphates&#8221;, so check before taking a supplement.</p>
<p>Other important  minerals are:</p>
<p>P0TASSIUM</p>
<p>Sources; citrus fruits, aquatic, bananas,  potatoes and<br />
vegetables.</p>
<p>SODIUM</p>
<p>Sources; salt, shellfish,  carrots, beets, bacon and kidneys.</p>
<p>SULPHUR</p>
<p>Sources; lean beef,  fish eggs, dried beans and cabbage.</p>
<p>ZINC</p>
<p>Sources; steak, eggs,  lamb, yeast and pumpkin<br />
