The observation that family members tend to be of similar stature is born out by formulas designed to predict height. One commonly quoted formula uses parental height and gender to predict adult height (in inches) as follows: For men: (height of mother + height of father + 5)/2. For women: (height of mother + height of father – 5)/2. If you know your parents’ heights, see if this formula predicts yours well; for most people, this will accurately predict your height within 2 or 3 inches.

From infancy, when average length is 20 inches, to age 2 there is initially rapid growth, then slowing, with about 14 inches in height added. From age 2 to puberty there is slow, steady growth at about 2 inches per year. As one enters puberty, a growth spurt of 3 to 5 inches in a year is common. By ages 40 to 50, height actually may begin slowly to decline, even in healthy adults.

How to predict your child’s adult height at the year of 2?

Genes, nutrition, and overall health have their effects right from the beginning. Rather predictably, we achieve about half of our adult height by age 2. So one way to predict ultimate height is simply to double the height achieved by the second birthday.

Another approach is this height predictor which only predicts children who are 4 years or older though.

Is there any way I can be certain to know the approximate height based on the height of my parents

i know of one calculator that can predict the approximate height of oneself. however you need:

- your mother’s height
- your father’s height
- your mother’s father’s height
- your mother’s mother’s height
- your father’s father’s height
- your father’s mother’s height

then you add all their heights up. divide by 6, then multiply by 1.08

that will be your approximate natural height. however with exercise and etc you can obviously grow way more.

Lets see, there is technically no definite means of calculating your final height, and those calculators on the net are just plain annoying because they make no sense.

Try this :
Father + Mother + Father’s Mother + Father’s Father + Mother’s Mother + Mother’s Father Height / 6 * 0.92 + 11.4cm ( Female ) or 14cm ( Male ).

Online height prediction tool to predict child adult height

Just found this great height predictor tool great for predicting child height. If you are a child before the age of 18 yourself or you are a parent who is concerned about how tall his kid would grow to, you can get an estimation of the adult height of him with this tool.

Its algorithm is based on a regression equator by some academic pediatrics scholar who have studied and recorded the height and weight data from tens and thousands of families. This tool accepts 6 variables as input: sex, age, current height, current weight, Mom’s height and Dad’s height; and outputs 3 values to represent the estimation of the future adult height of the person.
